That's how the mysterious new stranger describes the peacocks in the garden when he comes to stay at The Riverside, an Oxford pub where twelve-year-old Daniel lives with his Mum and Dad. Several weeks after his arrival, Daniel begins to suspect that the stranger may have been following him around Port Meadow all summer, and his suspicions are confirmed when he makes a disturbing discovery.
