China Miéville lives and works in London. His first novel, King Rat, was published in 1998 and Perdido Street Station followed in 2000, winning both the prestigious Arthur C. Clarke Award and the British Fantasy Award for 2001. This third novel has also been nominated for the Arthur C. Clarke Award, 2003.
