GAUDENZ FREULER is Professor Emeritus, University of Zurich, Switzerland, where he lectured in Art History from 1994 to 2014. His earlier career was devoted to 14th-century Sienese painting, with work on Biagio di Goro Ghezzi, whom he rescued from oblivion, and an important publication on Bartolo di Fredi (1994). He contributed volume IV/VII, 2, to the Corpus of Florentine Painting (1997), dedicated to the Florentine painter and illuminator Don Silvestro dei Gherarducci.
Besides his numerous publications and his teaching he has co-curated several exhibitions in Italy and America. His recent research and publications have ranged further afield in Italian art, to Pinturicchio and to Vittoria Colonna. GEORGI PARPULOV studied History at the University of Sofia and Art History at the University of Chicago. He has taught at the University of Oxford, has undertaken curatorial work at the Walters Art Museum and the British Museum, and has written Toward a History of Byzantine Psalters (2014).
