Niru is the quintessential all-American boy : a top student and athletics star, he is bound for Harvard once he graduates from his prestigious private high school. But Niru has a painful secret, one that he has only shared with his best friend, Meredith. He is gay - an abominable sin to his conservative Nigerian parents. Meredith is struggling with troubles of her own, however, and when Niru's father accidentally finds out his secret, Niru's life can never be the same again.
Ostracised from his family and with no friends to turn to, the fallout is more brutal and senseless than anyone can imagine.
