Quarry, n. An open excavation. Quarry, v. Transitive : To dig up or take from ; intransitive : To delve from. Quarry, n. An object pursued or hunted ; prey. She was a 'Jane Doe', an unidentified white female whose decomposed body was discovered near a quarry off California's Highway 1. The case fell to Santa Teresa County Sheriff's Department, but the detectives had little to go on. The woman was young, her hands were bound with a length of wire, there were multiple stab wounds, and her throat had been slashed. After months of investigation, the murder remained unsolved. That was eighteen years ago. Now the two men who found the body, both nearing the end of long careers in law enforcement, want one last shop at the case... and they turn to Kinsey Millhone to help them find closure. Kinsey is intrigued and agrees to the job. But revisiting the past can be dangerous business, and what begins with the pursuit of Jane Doe's real identity ends in a high-risk hunt for her killer

À propos de l'auteur

Biographie de Sue Grafton

Sue Grafton bas become one of the most popular female writers, both here and in the US. Born in Kentucky in 1940, the daughter of the mystery writer C. W. Grafton, she began her career as a TV scriptwriter before Kinsey Millhone and the 'alphabet' series took off. Sue freely confesses that Kinsey is her alter ego: 'I think of her as the person I might have been had I not married young and had kids; she is that stripped down piece of my personality.' She writes one book a year and plans to take Kinsey all the way through the alphabet to Z when Kinsey will be forty years old.' Sue Grafton spends part of the year in Louisville, Kentucky, and the rest in Montecito, California where she is presently working on her next novel.
