Peter Hilton is Distinguished Professor of Mathematics Emeritus at the State University of New York, Binghamton, and Distinguished Professor of Mathematics at the University of Central Florida, Orlando. He is the author of several books (some published by Springer-Verlag) and over 500 research articles.
Derek Holton is Professor of Pure Mathematics at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand. Together with his co-authors, he wrote Mathematical Reflections. He chairs a study, under the auspices of the International Commission on Mathematical Instruction, on the teaching and learning of mathematics at the university level.
Jean Pedersen is Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Santa Clara University, California. She and Peter Hilton have published together 5 books and over 80 research articles. She was the 1997 recipient of a Distinguished University Teaching Award from the Northern California Section of the Mathematical Association of America.
