The title of Thomas Larcher's third string quartet, Madhares, refers to the name of a deserted place on the island of Crete which inspired him to compose this work. Larcher developed the piece from repetitions of sounds generated by plucking the strings with a coin. The C major in the second movement Honey from Anopolis evokes the picture of an idealistic time long gone. The idyll is broken by rapid rhythmic movements marked 'sleepless'.

Der Titel Madhares von Thomas Larchers drittem Streichquartett geht auf den Namen einer verlassenen Ortschaft auf Kreta zurück, von der er sich bei der Komposition inspirieren ließ. Larcher entwickelt das Stück aus Repetitionen von mit einer Münze auf den Saiten gezupften Klängen. Das C-Dur im zweiten Satz Honey from Anopolis erweckt das Bild einer idealischen, längst vergangenen Zeit. Die Idylle wird von rasend schnellen, "sleepless" bezeichneten Sätzen höchster rhythmischer Finesse gebrochen.
