Biographie de Haruki Murakami
Haruki Murakami was born in Kyoto in 1949 and lives near Tokyo. His work has been translated into thirty-four languages, and the most recent of his many honours is the Yomiuri Literary Prize, whose previous recipients include Yukio Mishima, Kenzaburo Ôe and Kobo Abe. Philip Gabriel is associate Professor of Japanese Literature at the University of Arizona. He has translated the work of Senji Kuroi and Masahiko Shimada, as well as other novels by Murakami.
He is the co-editor of an anthology of essays, Oe and Beyond: Fiction in Contemporary Japan.
