Like its predecessor, the second edition of Introduction to the Theory of Ferromagnetism serves two purposes. First it is a textbook for beginning graduate students and advanced undergraduates in both physics and engineering. Second it explains the theoretical principles for practicing engineers and experimental physicists working in the field of magnetism: in this role it also serves as a reference book. For both professionals and students the emphasis is on introducing the different subfields while also highlighting the directions in which research is proceeding. For this new edition the author has updated the text throughout with particular emphasis on the nucleation problem (Chapter 9) and numerical micromagnetics (Chapter 11).
