During fifteen years' service in the RAF John Nichol flew Tornadoes in both Air Defence and Ground Attack capacities. On active duty in the Gulf he was shot down with his pilot John Peters in the first low level daylight raid of the Gulf War. Captured and tortured, he was paraded on television, leaving one of the enduring images of the conflict. He returned to active duty as part of the UN force maintaining the then fragile peace in Bosnia. John Nichol is the best-selling co-author of Tornado Down and Team Tornado, both co-written with John Peters, and four previous novels, Point of Impact, Vanishing Point, Exclusion Zone and Stinger.
