Biographie de Michel Demazure
Michel Demazure was university professor in mathematics from 1967, first at the Université Paris-Sud (1967-1976) and then at Ecole Polytechnique (1976-1999). From 1991 to 1998 he was executive director Of the Palais de la découverte in Paris. In 1998, he was appointed chairman of the Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie, the world famous science complex in La Villette, Paris. His original research area is algebraic geometry in which he published several books and numerous articles. Later he worked on the interface of mathematics and computer science.
