Ansel Adams (1902-1984) was the most honored American photographer of the twentieth century. Through the exhibition and publication of his work, his writings, and his leadership in the Sierra Club, Adams was also a prescient and highly effective voice in the fight to preserve Americas remaining widerness. Wallace Stegner (1909-1993) was one of Americans most distinguished novelists and essayists. His works include the Pulitzer Prize-winning Angle of Repose and The Spectator Bird, winner of the National Book Award.
Andrea G. Stillman is the foremost expert on Adams' work and has edited several books of his photographe and writings, including Ansel Adams: Letters and Images 1916-1984, Ansel Adams: 400 Photographs, and Ansel Adams in Color. William A. Turnage is managing trustee of The Ansel Adams Publishing Rights Trust. From 1978 to 1985, Turnage served as president of The Wilderness Society. He worked closely with Ansel Adams as business manager and environmental associate.
