You, Me, and Bad Movies

You, Me, and Bad Movies is a YA novel about Avery Cormier, an agender and pansexual teen, and their mysterious pen pal carrying secrets that may lead to disappointment. Fresh out of a horrendous summer break up, Avery is absolutely done with romance, or so they thought. After discovering a scribbled list of bad movies in the school library, they end up exchanging notes with a witty, charming, and bad movie loving pen pal going by the name K. Two months later, K has stolen their once shattered heart.
Avery wants to take a chance and meet in person, even if that means they may be turned away for being agender. However, K shuts the idea down immediately, leaving Avery pondering why and more desperate to discover their pen pal's true identity. But with Avery's ex lingering on their mind and in their life, moving on is harder than they thought, especially when K suddenly wants to cut off all contact.
The question of why is only explained when K's identity is accidentally revealed and it's the last person Avery could have imagined.
