In this short story, fourteen-year-old pianist, Katherine Browning, is preparing for a piano competition. She loves music and the poetry of sound, but she misses spending time with friends. The stress of the competition and her coming entry into high school will cause her to choose between devoting her life to music or to living a more normal life.
Heather Ormsby lives in Denver, Colorado. A former library supervisor, she has spent most of her working life surrounded by books and likes it that way. She is currently a full-time writer and photographer.
