Miami Beach police chief Carina Quintana is hot on the trail of a twisted killer who mails home pieces of his young female victims before delivering the coupe de grace. Can this heartless predator really be the world-famous crime novelist with a home in Paris and a Miami mansion whose books eerily predict the real-life mayhem to come, as Carina suspects? And can Carina stay focused on her quarry while fretting about the possible consequences of her Cayman stash of cash and romancing the beguiling Alice?
