One hot summer night, when sweat was streaming down our backs like rain off a tin roof, was the blurry beginning of it all. With our feet propped up on the rail, we laughed heartily while sitting on the front porch. Despite the fact that our souls ought to be too dissimilar to get along, we somehow mesh. That is occasionally the case. Before you know it, the people who enter your life become woven into the very fabric of your narrative.

However, we didn't just sit there and discuss rescuing people. No, it wasn't that impressive. There was a more subdued consensus, an underlying sense that we would take action. something significant. To us, not to the outside world.

However, we weren't the kind to wave banners or deliver long speeches. Our idea did not originate in a boardroom where strangers gathered around a table to decide what was best for each other. Knowing that there was nothing we could do to change everything, but perhaps-just possibly-we could create something that would uplift others, give them a home, and help them feel seen once more.
