Fruchey has a masterful way of drawing the reader into the rhythms of each poem, and also into a larger conversation about our inner and outer world. The work in this book discovers the beauties of an old self portrait, a roadside motel, abandoned pastures, odes to nighttime, a recipe for marital peace and the substrata in between. In "Still Waters" the poet tells us how to enter the scene and eloquently, how to" leave everything behind." This book helps us ask ourselves, "Which side of the dark are you on?" a question all of us must face at some time in our life.
As we travel the pages of this transformative collection, we will realize our hearts too, may be "dilated to the size of a planet, and grow skylights"-Connie Post, Poet Laureate Emerita of Livermore, CA, 2005 to 2009; Author of Prime Meridian andFloodwater, winner of the LyreBird Award

À propos de l'auteur

Biographie de Deborah L. Fruchey

Deborah Fruchey was born in California over 50 years ago. Her first novel, The Unwilling Heiress, was chosen as a Best Book by the American Bookseller's Association in 1987. She has attended several colleges just for fun, never earning a degree, and has worked at everything from international banking to selling light bulbs over the phone. In 2005 Deborah married musician Robert Hamaker, and settled in as a full time author.
She occasionally does vocals for her husband's meditation music. She also speaks for the National Alliance of Mental Illness in their In Our Own Voice program, as a result of her own experience with Bipolar Disorder. Deborah no longer understands why she ever bothered with anything besides writing.
