Rebecca's twin older sisters were the toast of the ton and each married handsome earls during their first Season. Rebecca's had four Seasons and not a single beau since Tom Huddleston deserted her for an opera singer. To make matters worse, during this one she suffers abject humiliation at the hands of a haughty duke's daughter. At Almack's, in the presence of at least two of the patronesses. She's starting to think spinsterhood will be her fate.
While visiting Bath with his mother, Miles Framingham, the Duke of Aylesbury meets Rebecca when she literally falls into his lap in Bath Abbey. The two of them strike up a friendship, as do their matchmaking mamas, and Miles wonders if Rebecca might be the perfect solution to his own matrimonial woes. His motives, however, are dubious at best, and the more he gets to know her, the more eager he is to wed her for herself.  But if he tells her the truth-and he'll have to at some point-she might never trust him again.
