The purpose of the book is to explore and demonstrate how culture and leadership interact with each other. Contextualised through South African organisations, this exploration ignites a realisation of the power inherent in this interplay. The book further seeks to demonstrate how these interactions can impact the effectiveness and efficiency of leadership. This includes discovering the value of cognisance when measuring these impacts, understanding them both consciously and subconsciously.
This work seeks to contribute towards building effective global leaders who are in touch with reality, demonstrating how their behaviour can improve - or worsen - families, organisations, societies, countries and the world. Millicent Lindiwe Ndaba has a master's degree specialising in leadership - cum laude (International University of Applied Science [IU] in Germany); a post-graduate diploma in Management Practices - cum laude (University of Cape Town [UCT], GSB South Africa); and a Bachelor of Accounting Science (University of Free State [UFS] South Africa).
She is a certified director (Institute of Directors in South Africa [IoDSA]), a certified ethics officer (The Ethics Institute [TEI], South Africa), and a certified internal auditor (Institute of Internal Auditors [IIA]). She has more than 30 years' leadership experience, beginning as a prefect at Christian Brothers College (CBC) in Bloemfontein and continuing as a Student Representative Council (SRC) member at UFS.
She was the IIASA Regional Governor for the Central Region, and has more than 15 years' experience as a board member and board committee member (Risk and Audit Committee), including in the role of chairperson. She has extensive experience in governance, risk and compliance, gained from various leadership roles from PwC Bloemfontein, Free State Department of Education, the City of Cape Town Municipality, Cape Town International Convention Centre, Cape Town Stadium, The Homestead Projects for Vulnerable Children NPC, Blessed Hands Giveth NPC and Emmanuel TV South Africa.
