At its most basic level, the "joy" of cynicism speaks of the age-old tendency where it's so much easier to view things like God or truth or justice asthe stuff that only fools or con artists profess to believe in. The reasons for such cynicism are varied and complex. To better understand them, this work traces the history of humanity's attitude toward God and the world, marred as it is by the presence of evil, particularly in terms of what is communicated in The Bible.
That's because cynicism as a by-product of hope disappointed is by no means a modern condition. In fact, it's as old as the most ancient dramas depictedin Scripture. As a result, what begins as a straight- forward discussion of the causes of cynicism in a modern world soon takes an unexpected turn as we journey forward through time, age after age, in a quest for an antidote to the most corrosive force in God's creation. In the process of that search, we find ourselves surveying familiar territory, although it's territory that takes on new meaning in this ages-long quest.
More importantly, our investigation will reveal a startling twist, because in examining the history of humanity's relationship to God's creation, we confront many facts that no typical science lesson ever imparts.

À propos de l'auteur

Biographie de W. Kent Smith

For more than forty years, W. Kent Smith has immersed himself in the teachings of the greatest biblical scholars of the ages-William Barclay, C. S. Lewis, W. Gene Scott, et al. More importantly during that time, he has immersed himself in The Bible itself. Add to that, Kent's unique perspective on history, humanity, and life, and the result is a one-of-a-kind take on biblical history and theology.
What that means to you as a fellow truth seeker is a message unhindered by many outmoded traditions of biblical interpretation. Beholden to no deacon board or school of thought, Kent has remained free to tread where others are unwilling to tread, and because of that, a brand-new view of Scripture has emerged. Not some new revelation, mind you, in the sense of it being above and beyond The Bible itself.
What we are talking about is a fresh understanding of what Scripture has been saying all along, one that's been hidden in plain sight, waiting for someone to connect the dots, to reveal a picture that's been lying dormant until now. Kent lives in West Covina, California, an eastern suburb of Los Angeles. He can be contacted at wkent@loststorieschannel.com, or lodestarcinema@msn.com.
