The Island

My desire for a solitary retreat for some much needed, rest and regeneration began with a rescue and nearly ended with us all being killed. Kate Larson was beginning to feel her world fall apart. After some self-examination and mental shaking, the cure became crystal clear: a nice quiet retreat away from stress and people. The answer to where, appeared in the form of the small, but brief, magazine ad for an old camp, a shack, on an island off the coast of Maine.
Sounded like paradise. Kate didn't want anything fancy: just a place to camp, walk on the shore and fish while allowing the dogs their freedom. Slight problem: Paradise doesn't have people busting up property or shooting at you with a high-powered rifle with night vision. What made her a target? How could she reclaim peace in her life?
