Often found at the library or sitting by the park's fountain, Baltham believes he is better off alone, shielded from potential hurt. One day, a friendly wolf named Lurik approaches him in the town square, offering companionship and understanding.
Though initially resistant, Baltham repeatedly encounters Lurik in various places-the market, park, and library. Gradually, Lurik's persistence and cheerful demeanor begin to break through Baltham's gruff exterior.
