The Alphabet Song begins centuries after the Great Wars destroyed the Yoosah civilization. Written language has been replaced by a mishmash of symbols called the Glyphic. Raiders, warlords, and slave traders rule the Mericas from the Lannic to the Civic Seas. Radioactive abominations lurk underground, in the wild, and among the great green Jeezees of old Yoosah cities. Abel, one of the many slaves this grim new world calls Workers, has no illusions about his life on the Estate and the Master he serves. Yet Abel's life turns upside down when he discovers he is able to read Yoosah words from a mysterious object that fell from the sky. Soon, he learns his family is still alive somewhere out there. With the help of a Scavenger named Layna, Abel learns the way of this dangerous world and begins his search to reclaim the life that was taken from him.
