#1 Buffy is a meditation on power and powerlessness in the same person. PS: That was a pretty good summary, and I appreciate that you took the time to watch the show and write this for us. It reads like an essay from a fan, which I love. DK: Well, I am a fan. I'm also an assistant professor of women's studies at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, which is the home of UCONN's television school. We have this amazing thing called the TV Study Group, where we watch all of the different shows together and talk about them, and one of my goals is to help teach people about shows they might not have seen before. PS: That's so cool. You are helping people learn about shows they haven't seen before. DK: Yeah, so I have some expertise in being able to talk about shows that I haven't seen before, which is really helpful because I keep hearing from my students that they don't get me.
#2 I have expertise in talking about shows I haven't seen, which is helpful because I keep hearing from my students that they don't understand me. I don't get them, but it's good for their viewing experience.
#3 Kendra, the Black Slayer, was on Buffy for a short time in the early '00s.
#4 Spike was the right person for Buffy when she was young and vulnerable, and Angel was the right person for her when she was powerful and independent.
