Current Christian theologians refer to Genesis to persuade the faithful that the cosmos was created by a single all-powerful God, who was, at times, judgemental, irritable, and harsh. They educate us about Adam and Eve's misdeeds and the beginnings of humanity. When Paul Wallis, an experienced clergyman, speaker, and author, was lying flat on his back from an accident and could not preach for a long, he took a hard look at Genesis.
He came found so many oddities and contradictions that he felt he was not reading the original versions of the renowned legends. His first goal is to track down the original tales and decipher what they say about where we came from, who we are, and where we are going. In the 6th century BC, ancient myths of human beginnings were largely eradicated from the Hebrew Scriptures. Many creation myths were denied entrance into Christian texts in the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD.
Why? What secrets were the new writers and editors keeping hidden? We go across ancient Greece, Africa, India, Mesoamerica, and Sumeria. We swallow the same red pills as Neo did in The Matrix and join Alice in descending the rabbit hole. As the myths claim, we are looking for evidence of a Sky Council-a celestial council of extraterrestrials-rather than a standard monotheistic leader. In terms of Genesis, we will have to let go of old illusions of a monotheistic deity to accept new possibilities of intelligent aliens orchestrating Human enterprises, including conflicts.
Various extraterrestrial races would fight for easy access to resources to adequately milk a planet. Thousands of cuneiform tablets in Sumeria reveal the past. Early Human civilizations built magnificent structures, extracted resources, and waged battles. However, they did not create artwork showing just one deity or humanoid shape. In Escaping from Eden, Paul Wallis plays explorer, researcher, preacher, and detective, uncovering mind-boggling revelations about Biblical writings.
Their ramifications need a reassessment of Abrahamic faiths and a new willingness to accept extraterrestrial contact, influence, and creation. His findings will be as contentious as they will be enlightening, and they will challenge whole belief systems. DNA, it turns out, was created by sophisticated extraterrestrial genetic engineers off-planet and traveled across space almost four billion years ago.
That civilization may have been our "makers, " paying us a few or many trips to nudge us in the direction they desired. It seems that they ran across some opposition along the road. In a book like this by Wallis, the whole cosmos and the beginnings of humans are brought into sharper scientific and spiritual focus, which is both comforting and terrifying.
