Staying Indoors is a bonus book that introduces the "Key to History" series, a companion to "Hull Crossing Chronicles." In Staying Indoors, four cousins, ages 10-14, return to their Aunt Lila's house in Hull Crossing, Virginia, expecting to continue their adventures of the previous summer. Instead, their spring break, in March 2020, brings far more than expected, including a guest from 1919.

Biographie de Denise DeVries

Denise Aileen DeVries is a translator, blogger, and historical fiction author. Originally from Colorado, she lived in Arizona for four years after forty years on the east coast. In the spring of 2020, Denise and her husband, artist Alvaro Ibañez, returned to their Virginia home to continue developing a retreat center for the arts. After their return, she edited Measured Moments - the way we see it, an illustrated poetry anthology.
Her first novel in the "Hull Crossing Chronicles" series, Sweet Tea and Vinegar Pie, was published in late October in print and as an e-book. She is currently working on a sequel, Prickly Pear Lemonade. Both books are set in 1932. In February 2021, Denise introduced a companion series, "Key to History, " time travel stories for all ages. In the e-book Staying Indoors, set in March 2020, four quarantined cousins, ages 10-14, visit 1919.
Steamboats and Ghost Crabs, set a year earlier, takes the cousins on a historic tour of Northumberland County.
