Stargazer: A Novelette

Seven-year-old Ricky Howell yearns to explore the stars. When he wishes to escape trouble at home, he can often be found outside, looking up to the sky-especially after nightfall, when the space battles are most visible, when it seems like many of the stars are flying and zipping across the heavens. One day, Ricky hopes to do the same, and he can't wait. Grampa Howell, meanwhile, is not only Ricky's grandfather, but also an expert star traveler-one of the greatest ever.
Having regaled his grandson with exciting adventures of rocketing thousands of miles an hour through space, dodging comets, asteroids, and alien forces, perhaps it's no wonder Ricky so desperately wants to follow in his footsteps. When Ricky's parents get into another argument, Ricky and Grampa steal away to a quiet lake nearby, rowing out onto water that provides an unobstructed view of the busy, awesome, and wondrous night sky.
