Selena’s Dilemma - Love During the Apocalypse, #1

Selena is a bigger bodied young African American woman. She left her home in Georgia to come out to Seattle in hopes of starting a promising future. She had no idea what she was getting into when she applied for a caretaker job at a secretive government office.  The man she was put in charge of caring for was in a coma. He was some sort of military officer, but nobody would give her any details about anything.
The job paid well though, and it paid weekly. Selena desperately needed the money, so she did as she was told. Her job was simple: just maintain the man's physical hygiene, give him supplements, monitor his life support, and administer a mysterious drug called TAUBMED-13.  It wasn't long before Selena fell for the Thompson, despite the fact that he was almost completely unconscious. All he seemed to be able to do was tap his right index finger.
Three quick taps, three long taps, and three quick taps again. SOS. He was trying to warn her of something. But what? What is this strange drug they were having her inject him with? The answers to these questions reveal a sinister plot that points to an even more terrifying truth: that the world is on the brink of nuclear and chemical annihilation and almost nobody knows it. One of the few people who does know it is Thompson, and he can't even go to the bathroom on his own, let alone talk.  Selena is his only hope.
