The Ugly Duckling Once upon a time there was a man who never fit in... Broke and brokenhearted, Richard Parker-Harris retreats to his stepsister Meredith's horse farm, ostensibly to help with her wedding, but actually to con her cousin Susan Cade into helping him recoup his fortune. Though Richard hates horses--especially since his ex-fiancee cuckholded him in the stables--Susan has an uncanny talent for picking winners at the racetrack. Richard's plans quickly go awry when he discovers the scrawny, bleached blonde teenager he remembers has blossomed into a beautiful young woman who is, and always has been desperately in love with him--Richard the scoundrel, the wastrel, the real ugly duckling. For once in his life, Richard vows, he will do the honorable thing and get out of Susan's life forever.
