Have you ever wanted to be the 'chosen one'? It might sound appealing, but when Gaia taps you on the proverbial shoulder and says she's had enough, it's not fun and games anymore.  You know those fantasies where you wake up on your birthday to a new car in the driveway and a hot date? An EV would be cool, and I'd love the date. But I never wished for a crazy vision of a hellish dystopia courtesy of a very pissed-off Mother Earth. So much for birthday wishes.  Now I'm stuck with the Mother of All Things pummeling me with visions and cries for help.
Add in my best friend, a hippie new-age woman, a Thor look-a-like who thinks he's some breed of faerie, a raven who follows me around like a witchy familiar, and powers that should only exist in movies and books, and what do you get? My life.  Between navigating high school and wrestling with things beyond my understanding, I'd say the start of my seventeenth year is a real doozy. Gaia is hounding me day and night with violent images of the planet's destruction and a furious desire for revenge, and I don't know how much longer I can hold out.  In fact, with everything she's showing me, I don't know that I want to.  Time is running out.
A wrathful Mother Earth is gathering her army. And, weirdly, I'm the only thing that could save humanity or doom it.   Contemporary young adult fantasy collides with magical realism, fae lore, climate fiction, and the power of friendship.

À propos de l'auteur

Biographie de Kristin Ward

Kristin Ward is an award-winning young adult author living in Connecticut. A science and math teacher for over twenty years, she infuses her geeky passions into stories that meld realism and fantasy. Kristin embraces her inner nerd regularly, often quoting 80s movies while expecting those around her to chime in with appropriate rejoinders. As a nature freak, she can be found wandering the woods or chilling in her yard with all manner of furry and feathered friends. She is often referred to as a unicorn by colleagues who remain in awe of her ability to create or find various and sundry things in mere moments.
In reality, the horn was removed years ago, leaving only a mild imprint that can be seen if she tilts her head just right. A lifelong lover of books and writing, she dreamed of becoming an author for thirty years before publishing her award-winning debut in 2018. Her first novel, After the Green Withered, is one of many things you should probably read. https://www.kristinwardauthor.com/ Questions and answers to get to know the author: What inspired you to write your debut novel? I was inspired to write this book while writing a graduate course in environmental education.
As I read numerous topics regarding the history of the earth to the present, I couldn't help but be struck by the incredible responsibility that humans have to the future of our planet. How long have you been writing? My writing aspirations began in 7th grade when my English teacher likened my writing to Saki, the author of The Interlopers. From that point on, I have written numerous poems, not all good, and have begun many stories that I hope to continue to develop and eventually publish.
