Portspectives is a series of photographs that searches for both the beauty and the beast, the unknown detail and the overlooked truth. Ports are indicators of the need for constant social reinvention. In this tension, I wanted to search for the beauty and uniqueness of these special places: Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Oslo, Stockholm, Barcelona and Istanbul. More than a simple inventory of contemporary architecture and abstract photography, this book aims to shed light on the axes of development of several European cities over the centuries. To achieve this, three significant periods have been chosen: the late Baroque, the first and the second industrial revolutions. To illustrate these bold changes and help you understand how these cities developed, you'll find interactive maps for each of these significant periods. This interactive e-book contains many photographs and interactive elements. It's perfect for tablets like the iPad and Chromebook tablets, but not for e-readers that can't display images.
