Past and Future

Katera has been training for a future she never chose that will take her from her home, her family, and her solar system. Her strongest ally and closest friend is her grandmother, who is supposed to walk her through it all with the yet-to-be-invented trans-time communication technology. So when her grandma get near to the end of her life, Katera knows she will see her again, but that doesn't make saying goodbye any easier.  A prequel short story to the Strange Waters anthology short story Roanoke.
