Elif Devon literally ran into a man with very shady past. She was running from a stalker. Jack Harris feared his past would catch up with him and continually looked over his shoulder as he worked to forge a new life. Sergeant Dillon Coster, Elif's brother-in-law insisted on protecting her from these men.  Elif chose to go her own way believing her past would not determine her future but simply prepare her for the woman she would become.
