Our Founding Murdering Father is an 'alternative' biography of Angus McMillan, the European 'discoverer' of the region of Gippsland in south-east Australia. It is 'alternative' because it deals especially with his relations with the original indigenous inhabitants - the Kurnai. In particular it deals with a period of frontier conflict during the first years of European occupation and looks at a number of massacres of the Kurnai. This culminated in the massacre at Warrigal Creek where they were reputedly killed in their hundreds. Other aspects examined include the so-called 'discovery' debate, the controversy of the siting of the Ramahyuck mission and possible corruption involving Aboriginal stores. This book is the third in the author's Kurnai trilogy following Gippsland Massacres and Through Foreign Eyes.
