55 year-old Geraldine Summers had died from cancer and gone to Heaven. But she is left waiting at the gate for a decision to go in. The security keeper tells her that she can only enter if she can make her ex-lover Keith a happier and less angry man. Geraldine agrees. Upon entering, Geraldine hears what the keeper means, as she hears Keith shout at people. In one outburst, Geraldine realises that he's angry because he's missing his family.  She's now determined to make him fall in love with her again, so he won't miss his family so much. With the help of her angel helper, Coco, Geraldine recalls her life with Keith and how they romanced. First she takes him to the cinema, which appears when she mentions it, to get him to remember their love together.
Then she cooks him a meal. As Geraldine feels they're getting closer and is beginning to get Keith to open up, she starts to flash purple hues, her favourite colours. Finally Geraldine leaves it to Keith if he wants to talk to her, and he does. He also gets Geraldine to realise why so became estranged from her family, and she wants to rectify that. Geraldine and Keith are in love again, and her job is complete, and she is allowed in to Heaven. Now she can start her mission - to help her relatives get their lives back on track, from a photo, and using her favourite colour to indicate she's there for them.
She can't wait.
