As a last bid for victory, she sends her kinswomen deep into the southern lands in the hopes they can find the source of the invasion. While they are there, Ruby and Topaz find some interesting friends who are happy to help end the war. They also find some terrifying foes who are mad for power. It will take all their wits to finish their assignment and safely return home.
