"Normal man is a lonely being, prone to seek the company of his fellows and draw from them, although he would probably never admit it, a sense of sharing, whether it be pain or pleasure. When this association is denied him, the tendency is to withdraw into a state of latent resentment and use the neighbors who have repulsed him for material ends, which, of course, include the physical. But this does not cure his loneliness."
