"Name Your Price, " said the Hollywood Lawyer to Professor Eagleman when he called back for the second time to entice him to come to Universal Studios for a trial.  Joe Eagleman, tells in this autobiography about this unique experience as well as many other captivating aspects of his journey from a kid on the farm to a professor in demand in Hollywood. Doctor Eagleman's early education was in a one-room rural grade school.
His invention of an artificial tornado that extended from the ceiling of his laboratory at the University of Kansas resulted in local interest as well as international filming from a news crew from Japan. It later became the subject of a lawsuit between Universal Studios in Hollywood and the Volvo Company.  After he was told by Universal Studios to "Name your price" he was called to Hollywood for this successful lawsuit.
A 50-foot version of his tornado was the main attraction in the Twister Building at Universal Studios Park in Orlando Florida from 1998 to 2015. Another copy of his tornado was created with his help by Ned Kahn at the Exploratorium in San Francisco where it continues to attract viewers and has for many decades.      This autobiography tells of his early life on the farm as the 11th of 12 children who was told by an older brother that he would never amount to anything.
His elementary education was in a one-room rural grade school where he had to deal with a bully on the playground. This book includes his development as a scientist, artist, musician, luthier, marksman, taxidermist and other endeavors. His was a very unique journey from a farm boy to Professor and Research Scientist. His career resulted in one who had experiments on Skylab and who influenced many thousands of students through his teaching and books and who made national changes to tornado safety guidelines.
He initiated and developed the program in Atmospheric Science at KU that has now grown into a full department where Joe Eagleman Scholarships are given to worthy students. His journey also includes being a Christian, Elder, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Biographie de Joe R Eagleman

Joe R. Eagleman (1936- ) was born on a farm near West Plains Missouri. He received his Ph. D. from the University of Missouri in 1963 and was a professor at the University of Kansas for 39 years. He taught thousands of students about Atmospheric Science through his courses there and many thousands more through four different textbooks used by over a hundred universities over a span of several decades.
He directed a successful experiment on Skylab, funded by NASA. He invented a tornado in his laboratory that was used by Universal Studios for a 50 ft. tornado attraction and can be seen at the Exploratorium in San Francisco. He started the Atmospheric Science program at KU and wrote a technical book on severe thunderstorms that included his tornado safety research, which resulted in changes adopted nationally.
Since his retirement, he has published several books and recorded several albums of original music (Eagleman Band). His autobiography, Name Your Price, tells of his early life on a farm where he was the 11th of 12 children. It includes his work as a scientist and a number of unusual hobbies including those as an artist, musician, luthier, marksman, taxidermist, world traveler, and other endeavors.
