My Turn: A Short Story

The Embark Square Aquatic Sports Complex. The 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay. The national championship is on the line. The pressure, along with the noise from the crowd, continues to build as you step onto the platform. .the sudden rush of cool water surrounding you as you dive in. .and then, nothing. Nothing except the same stroke you've practiced and drilled, time and again, hundreds of times, thousands of times, to propel you from one end of the pool to the other and back again as quickly as possible. However, there are accomplished swimmers in the other lanes who have put in just as many hours and want to win just as badly-and so far, they seem to be succeeding. With her team falling behind, Olivia Dyson is forced to summon every ounce of energy she has in order for her school to stage a comeback for the ages.
But it may just be too late.
