Dear Mom, Dad, Teacher or other Treasured Caregiver, Imagine a world where there's not enough food prompting people to argue and fight fortheir survival. Imagine if you had to move to another place hoping to find the food you need to survive. But what if, in this new place, everyone looked and acted different? What if they had different customs and habits and spoke a new language? Imagine how scary that might feel and what you might do. Imagine being afraid that other people would be just as afraid of you as you might be of them. What if you feared they would not welcome you because of your differences? What if you became a stranger in a strange land? On the other hand, what if you lived your entire life in one place and one day you met the stranger from far away who looked and sounded different from anyone you'd ever met before? But imagine if the stranger from far away had an unexpected way to help you. Just by opening your heart with kindness and saying hello. What if showing them where they could find water and food was enough of a gesture of friendship that it brought an unexpected solution to your own problem, a unique problem that was forcing you to move too? This story reminds us that everyone contributes to the community. Even though we all look and think differently, we are the same. We need water and food and a place to sleep. We also need the kindness of community, because when we work together, it's good for everyone. That's what this book is about. With Love, Brett Aronowitz
