Around midnight, he placed the book on the table and stretched languidly. Suddenly, he heard what he thought were female voices. These were the same voices he had heard while he slept that day. The enchanting sound held him in a spellbound state and he couldn't move waiting to hear more. There was something so sweet and alluring about the tones, he felt in almost a hypnotic state. He shook his head to clear it, but it didn't help.
What's wrong with me? Now I'm hearing voices. I guess I've been alone far too long in this deserted stretch of coastline. Lance picked up his book again, but he couldn't concentrate. He again placed his book aside and walked over to the window, glancing down toward the sand dunes. It was so dark with only the occasional light from the lighthouse lighting the sand. The scarce lighting let Lance see only a portion of the beach.
Something moved down below causing the sand to swirl into the evening breeze. He narrowed his eyes to get a better look. "What in the hell is that?" He spoke out loud. What he saw both excited and frightened him. This couldn't be possible his thoughts were spinning as he continued to watch. Dancing in the sandy soil while singing their sweet melodious song were two women with long chestnut colored hair trailing down their backs.
The lustrous sheen of it almost blinded him. The sheer dresses they wore reached to their ankles and he noted they didn't have any shoes on. This was an oddly appealing scene. A scene he had never witnessed before but held his attention like a magnet. He couldn't look away from the enchanting sight. The women continued to dance while their voices floated up to where he stood watching. Something held him spellbound and he couldn't move.
A sudden thought struck Lance. Could these two women be the ghosts everyone talked about that were haunting the lighthouse? If so, they certainly looked real to him; certainly not apparitions. The curves the women possessed showed clearly through the white flowing transparent covering of their dresses. A thought ran through his head. Why do they bother wearing anything when a person can see every delicate curve and intimate part they possess?
