Mark Gilbert is invited to the rehearsal dinner of his good childhood friend Lacey Stevens. He is doing it as a favor simply because Lacey does not have many friends in the city that she can invite. He is one of her few friends from back home. Another of her few friends is Sheridan Newman who she met in secretarial college 4 years ago and have been good friends with ever since. Mark is an accountant and is the junior partner in a firm.
Unknown to him Sheridan had applied for, and accepted, a position with that firm. After the wedding Mark and Sheridan hook up and go their separate ways the next day .
