Nicole Crown has obtained a MSc in forensic sciences from the University of Lausanne in 2001, Switzerland. She has 18 years of experience in the field of forensic handwriting examination, two of those in the Questioned Document Unit, Western Cape, South Africa. She has been working since 2010 as a senior handwriting examiner at the Zurich Forensic Science Institute for civil and penal cases.
Nicole has been a member of the Steering Committee of the European Network of Forensic Handwriting Experts (ENFHEX) since 2015 in various roles, with current responsibility in the areas of education and training.

Raymond Marquis obtained his PhD degree in Forensic Sciences in the School of Criminal Justice of the University of Lausanne (Switzerland).
His PhD thesis has contributed to validating the fundamentals of the discipline of forensic handwriting examination through the analysis of character shape. Raymond is working as a practicing forensic scientist at the School of Criminal Justice since 2004, in the document examination section, for civil, penal and private cases. He is also a researcher in the field of handwriting examination. He has authored and coauthored several publications in this area.
His professional interests are focused on the logical approach for evidence assessment and its application in handwriting examination, in respect with both implementation and communication in written or oral statements. He is a member of the European Network of Forensic Handwriting Experts (ENFHEX).

Carolyne Bird holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Human Bioscience from La Trobe University, Melbourne.
Her research focused on investigating forensic handwriting examiners skill in detecting disguise and simulation in handwritten text. She has been employed by Forensic Science SA since 2002, where she holds the position of Science Leader - Document Examination.
Carolyne is a member and current vicepresident (2021-2024) of the Australasian Society of Forensic Document Examiners Inc., a member of the Australian and New Zealand Forensic Science Society, an associate member of the European Network of Forensic Handwriting Experts (ENFHEX) and the European Document Experts Working Group (EDEWG), and a corresponding member of the American Society of Questioned Document Examiners.
She has been a member of several national and international working groups, including the NIST/NIJ Expert Working Group for Human Factors in Handwriting Examination. Dr. Bird has more than 10 publications in peer-reviewed forensic science journals, and books.
