Freya is an Alabama State Trooper on medical leave. She is asked to assist in a limited capacity, a scientist from Auburn University, Genet, to look into unusual activity in and round an abandoned school house, in Southern Alabama. The school house was the site of a brutal murder and rumors of paranormal activity have the local residents in a state of panic. Genet has all the scientific background to deal with this problem, or so the University believes.
The trip to the small town gives the two women a chance to get acquainted, and it is slowly becoming obvious that one of them may be a lesbian. Neither woman indicated their surprise, but in no time the two are getting along quite well. It seems there is no need for the other bed in their double room hotel.
