With expanding possibilities for self- plus independent-publishing blossoming in recent years, a new breed of publishing experts have appeared, ready to feed on the ever-growing market of literary hopefuls. Touting wisdom gleaned from time in the business that often equals 5-7 years or less, and has generally only been acquired from working with e-commerce platforms outside of the mainstream publishing industry at large, much of the common wisdom being preached by such publishing gurus today is questionable...and some of it seems to be dead wrong. After enjoying a full-time, decades-long career in the industry - working with both large, traditional houses as well as with today's print and e-book publishing alternatives - author/ex-NY editor Cristina Salat explores facets of the feeding frenzy now aimed at targeting the wallets of writers, and why so many indie 'experts' these days seem to be pushing ideas that are destined to fail.
