In 2023, he was named "Teacher of the Month" at Matt's Music in North Tonawanda, New York. Richard and his Crossroads Music students also performed at Canal Fest, Greater Buffalo's renowned music venue. Back in 1965, he had the honor of playing at the New York World's Fair within the New York State pavilion featuring the Angola, NY band "The Ambassadors."
