David Guy Compton was born in 1930 in London. The son of an actor and actress, he was brought up by his Scottish grandmother, recently returned from India. Compton wrote numerous novels in both the crime and sf genres. His first book was published in 1962, the now classic crime novel TOO MANY MURDERERS.

Eerily predictive of the 21st century's obsessions with media voyeurism and 'reality television', it was filmed as Death Watch in 1980.
