Subtitle: Shining a Light on ConspiraciesSome people treat the topic as if conspiracies don't exist. Ridicule is automatic. They would be shocked to find out that there are at least 489 new conspiracies per second starting somewhere in the world, day-in and day-out, all year long and every year. Incredible! This book attempts to shine a light on this controversial topic and to place it in its proper perspective.
The so-called skeptics have lost their bearings when it comes to critical thinking. True skepticism is also skeptical of personal views and beliefs -- even those based on facts. Why? Because we can always learn more. Knowledge is always a moving target. Did you know that two children talking about stealing cookies from the kitchen while mommy is at the store is considered a conspiracy? The world is not going to end because of missing cookies.
Too many people, especially Americans, have a knee-jerk reaction to the idea of conspiracies. The author discovered this in himself while teaching at a four-year college in the Philippines. The reaction took him entirely by surprise. After researching this subject more thoroughly, Mr. Martin discovered that conspiracies are far more common than he had imagined. Covering virtually every aspect of human society, this book delves into the heart of what makes conspiracies so common.
Some of the real-world examples may make you angry or dismayed. But there are ways to recognize conspiracies when they happen. And there are solutions.
