Dead Head

Kate Brentwood is wealthy, has a small circle of close friends, and keeps busy by researching and writing about some of Chicago's more interesting cold cases and other unsolved mysteries. Kate Brentwood is also dead, found in her upscale loft apartment; a large gash in the back of her head has spilled blood on her freshly polished Spanish tile floors. Lead Chicago homicide detective Lora Cannan and her partner, Doug Pope, catch the case.
Evidence points to a robbery-gone-bad, but it isn't until Lora learns about Kate's latest project that she wonders if a decades-old cold case could be the motive for a current-day murder. Solving both will be difficult. The killer is elusive, cunning, and very dangerous.
