The Guide to Creative Montréal's Quartier International, Old Montréal, Île Notre-Dame and Île Sainte-Hélène tour offers a foray into the fields of performing arts, visual arts (art galleries and public artworks), digital arts, music and design.
Spread out over a wide swath south of downtown and accessible from three metro stations, Old Montréal can be approached from several directions. This part of town borders the Quartier International business district and opens onto the Old Port to the south. The fact may be less publicized than their many historic attractions, but Old Montréal and its neighbouring areas are also rich in culture.
Museums, galleries, art foundations and co-ops, and countless works of public art, as well as theatres, cinemas, venues, and eclectic outdoor events swarm amongst the heritage buildings-which are often pressed into their service. Nowhere else on the island have so many historic buildings been preserved by being converted for cultural use.
The tour features countless bookstores, record stores, cafes, restaurants and shops where you can stop along the way.
